RADIESSE: LONG-TERM COLLAGEN STIMULATION

RADIESSE ® VOLUMIZING FILLER

Healthy young skin contains collagen that gives it volume, flexibility, and strength. As part of the aging process, the skin’s natural collagen breaks down resulting in the loss of facial volume. This loss of elasticity and volume results in wrinkles, facial lines, and skin laxity that rob the skin of its youthful appearance. RADIESSE® stimulates the skin’s production of collagen to restore volume in the skin, smooth away wrinkles and improve skin quality in the long-term.

RADIESSE® is now also available with integral 0.3% lidocaine (RADIESSE® Lidocaine). The line extension product combines the proven efficacy and safety of RADIESSE® with extra treatment comfort.

PRODUCT PROFILE

RADIESSE® – instant volume lifting and contouring

RADIESSE® is an injectable dermal filler that temporarily adds volume to help smooth moderate to severe facial wrinkles and gives an immediate lifting and firming effect of the skin. Once injected, RADIESSE® directly provides volume and lift needed to diminish the signs of aging because of the calcium-based microspheres and gel that comprise the product. Both the gel and the microspheres are completely broken down by the body over time.

RADIESSE® – a collagen stimulator

The unique formulation of RADIESSE® stimulates the production of new collagen, which results in increased volume that may last a year or more in many patients*. Thanks to this method of wrinkle correction, RADIESSE® is more and more becoming the favorite injectable filler of many patients and medical professionals.
* Individual results are dependent on age, skin type, indications, lifestyle, metabolism and, of course, the area treated.

MODE OF ACTION

RADIESSE® – how it works

Once injected, RADIESSE® provides immediate volume and correction but also continues to work by stimulating the skin to produce its own natural collagen. Over time, the gel is absorbed and the body metabolizes the CaHA-microspheres, leaving behind only the skin’s natural collagen.

Once injected, RADIESSE® shows an immediate one-to-one correction and lifting effect. It can instantly soften your smile lines, replace lost volume in your cheeks, or contour your jawline.

RADIESSE® Lidocaine significantly reduces pain during treatment and throughout the first hour after treatment.4

Over the following weeks, RADIESSE® microspheres stimulate the skin to produce new collagen for a soft, natural look.

Collagen net
Newly formed collagen surrounds the microspheres. The microspheres are eventually metabolized by the body’s normal processes.

The new collagen provides a long-term effect that may last for a year or more in many patients.*

TREATMENT AREAS

Are wrinkles giving away your age?

RADIESSE® provides an instant lift by restoring lost volume in areas of the lower face, effectively treating moderate to severe wrinkles and folds. And it continues to work with your body, stimulating the natural production of collagen for a more refreshed appearance that can last up to a year or more in many patients.1-3

Smile Lines

For most of us, smile lines — also known as nasolabial folds — are nothing to smile about. These lines and creases run from the side of the nose to the corner of the mouth and are the result of the loss of facial volume and skin elasticity as we age. These nasolabial folds can make you look older, tired or unhappy—even though you feel youthful on the inside.

Fortunately, treatment with RADIESSE® can help restore lost volume and stimulate your own collagen production, minimizing the appearance of those pesky facial lines, wrinkles, and folds that mask our smiles. Best of all, results are clinically proven to last a year or more in most patients.

Marionette Lines

Even if you have never heard of marionette lines, you probably know what they are. These lines that run straight downwards from the corners of the mouth can make you look unhappy. Marionette lines form as facial volume begins to deplete and deeper creases begin to form below the mouth. Fillers for your face can make a difference.

Fortunately, treatment with RADIESSE® can help restore lost volume and stimulate your own collagen production, minimizing the appearance of those pesky facial lines, wrinkles, and folds that mask our smiles. Best of all, results are clinically proven to last a year or more in most patients.

Pre-Jowl Fold

A little-known area of the face that can make a big impact on the way we look is the pre-jowl fold area, or the pre-jowl fold sulcus, which is the areas on either side of our chin. Facial volume loss associated with the aging process results in sagging of the skin in other facial areas and leaves the pre-jowl fold area hollow. Fillers for your face can make a difference.

Fortunately, treatment with RADIESSE® can help restore lost volume and stimulate your own collagen production, minimizing the appearance of those pesky facial lines, wrinkles, and folds that mask our smiles. Best of all, results are clinically proven to last a year or more in most patients.1-3

Corners of the Mouth

The corners of the mouth, also known as the oral commissures, can turn downward as you age and lose volume below the mouth. This downturned appearance of the mouth can make you look like you are frowning or even mad. In addition, volume loss in this area often leads to the formation or the deepening of already-formed marionette lines.

Chin Wrinkles

This pesky wrinkle, forming horizontally across the chin can really distract from the smile. Caused by facial volume loss, chin wrinkles appear gradually over time. A facial filler can make a difference.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is RADIESSE made from?
RADIESSE is made of tiny calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel. The calcium microspheres are similar to minerals found naturally in the body so allergy testing is not required. Over time, the body absorbs the microspheres and gel, leaving behind only natural collagen.

Please note that RADIESSE is contraindicated in patients with severe allergies manifested by a history of anaphylaxis, with a history or presence of multiple severe allergies.

How does RADIESSE work?
Once injected, RADIESSE plumps the skin (face and hands) to give the appearance of a smoother surface. Over time, RADIESSE works to stimulate the body to produce collagen naturally. Ultimately the body absorbs the product and leaves behind the natural collagen for long-lasting results.

Where can RADIESSE be injected?
RADIESSE can be injected in the following locations*:

  • Smile lines: also called the nasolabial folds, are the lines that run from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth
  • Marionette lines: the lines that run downward from the corners of the mouth
  • Corners of the mouth: also called the oral commissure, if these are turned downward it can make you look as though you’re frowning
  • Pre-jowl fold: the area on either side of the chin, where skin can sag due to loss of facial volume
  • Chin wrinkles: horizontal lines that can form on your chin and distract from your smile

*RADIESSE is FDA-approved for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds.

What makes RADIESSE different from other leading dermal fillers?
RADIESSE is the only dermal filler available composed of calcium-based microspheres, and has been shown to stimulate the natural production of collagen, for results that may last up to a year or more in many patients. Additionally, in clinical studies with leading hyaluronic acid injectable dermal fillers, results showed that RADIESSE patients were more satisfied with their results than patients treated with other leading wrinkle fillers. In addition, 30% less RADIESSE may be needed for correction when compared to Perlane® injectable gel.

How is treatment with RADIESSE performed? Is it painful?
RADIESSE is injected under the skin in a quick procedure that can be done over the lunch hour. RADIESSE is also FDA-approved to mix with lidocaine (an anesthetic), which means the procedure will be much more comfortable. In fact, in a clinical study, 90% of patients treated reported significant pain reduction when injected with RADIESSE mixed with lidocaine.

How soon will I see results with RADIESSE and how long will they last?
Immediately upon injection, RADIESSE restores volume to smooth out the signs of aging. The natural-looking results may last up to a year or more in many patients.

Who can benefit from treatment with RADIESSE?
