For the past 12 years I have been performing eyelid surgery using CO2 laser technology.
The CO2 laser in its incisional mode cuts thru tissues in an almost bloodless fashion.
This is especially useful in lower lid surgery since the surgeon has the great advantage of clear visualization of anatomy for a more precise and faster procedure which translates into a shorter recovery time for the patient.
Another advantage of this technology is the capability to perform tissue resurfacing along the delicate and thin skin of the eyelids. This eliminates the need to make visible incisions and remove eyelid skin which may cause complications such as eyelid malposition.
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia on ambulatory basis. The following examples show patients after approximately 3 months post surgery. (Please click on thumbnails to view and browse full images.)
