Dr. JRM: Buenos días Ivonne.
Ivonne: Bueno, primero explíquenos –para refrescar la memoria— de qué se trata Kybella™.
Dr. JRM: Bueno Kybella™ fue presentado aquí en Puerto Rico, en este mismo programa una vez fue aprobado por la FDA [Food and Drug Administration – Administración de Drogas y Alimentos], como el único producto inyectable que reduce o elimina la papada, es decir, la grasa que está debajo del mentón. Hoy día quiero presentar aquí también con primicia los primeros resultados que tenemos de este tratamiento en sobre 200 tratamientos que hemos realizados en mi oficina, que es uno de los centros importantes del mundo sobre el tratamiento de Kybella™. Aquí vemos un joven en sus 30 años, después del primer tratamiento.
Ivonne: Eso es importante. ¿Por qué es importante que sólo el primer tratamiento?
Dr. JRM: Porque se supone que en promedio en los estudios en Estados Unidos se digan que son tres tratamientos y nuestros pacientes han demostrado que, después del primera tratamiento, el resultado es bien significativo y esto se ha visto en los distintos grupos de edad. Hemos tratado sobre 200 pacientes …
Ivonne: Wow. Vamos a ver otras fotos.
Dr. JRM: … de edades tan jóvenes como de 23 años hasta 70 años. Aquí vemos une fémina también en medio de su tratamiento sin completarlo y vemos la reducción marcada en el área de la papada. Lo interesante también en este procedimiento (Ivonne) es que tenemos un grupo grande de pacientes masculinos en la oficina. Generalmente, en los procedimientos cosméticos el hombre compone el 10%. Aquí esta llegando al 30% y al 40% de los pacientes tratados como ven aquí una persona masculina de sobre los 50 años de edad con una reducción marcada de esa grasa o papada en el área submental.
Ivonne: Todas las fotografías que estamos observando es tan sólo un tratamiento. Entonces podemos esperar que en tres tratamientos desaparezca.
Dr. JRM: Eso es así y lo interesante de esto (Ivonne) es que es un tratamiento permanente donde el paciente se realiza esto y continua sus labores.
Ivonne: Y no hay cirugía.
Dr. JRM: Y no hay cirugía y puede continuar su vida totalmente normal.
Ivonne: Bueno, doctor, yo voy a cambiar el tema dramáticamente. Me dicen que usted está trabajando con Lucecita Benítez. Cuénteme. ¿Una nueva faceta es esto?
Dr. JRM: Bueno ése es mi proyecto de este año. Se llama Lucecita es Lucecita, concierto 28 de noviembre, sábado después de Acción de Gracias, un concierto histórico que nadie en Puerto Rico se debe perder. Y yo como amante de la música vine aquí a invitarte obviamente yo sé que te encanta la música de Lucecita …
Ivonne: Sobretodo Lucecita.
Dr. JRM: … y al pueblo puertorriqueño también porque tenemos que apoyar esta figura que nos ha dado tanto.

Telenoticias Telemundo: Kybella™ (November 4, 2015)Ivonne: Friends, the first before and after photos after one Kybella™ treatment are here and Telenoticias is the first to show the results. Oculoplastic Surgeon José Raúl Montes joins us. Good Morning. Welcome.
Dr. JRM: Good morning Ivonne.
Ivonne: First of all, to refresh our memory, explain what is Kybella™.
Dr. JRM: Well Kybella™ was first introduce here in Puerto Rico, in this program, after being approved by the FDA [Food and Drug Administration] as the only injectable product for the reduction of the double chin, i.e., that fat which lies beneath the chin. Today, I want to premiere the first results after having treated over 200 patients in my office, which is one of the most important Kybella™ treatments centers of the world. We can see here the results of a Young man in his 30’s, after only one treatment.
Ivonne: That is important. Why is it important after only one treatment?
Dr. JRM: Because, based on studies made in the United States, it is assumed that three treatments are required, and we have seen significant results in our patients within different age groups after the first treatment. We have treated over 200 patients …
Ivonne: Wow. Let’s see other photos.
Dr. JRM: … as young as 23 years old to patients in their 70’s. In this photo you can see a female patient in the midst of her treatment –pending completion and you can already see a marked reduction in the chin area. Interestingly, in this procedure (Ivonne) we have a large group of male patients in the office. Generally, in cosmetic procedures only 10% are men. With this, we are reaching 30% to 40% of male patients treated, as you can see here a male over 50 years old, with a marked fat reduction in the chin or submental area.
Ivonne: All the photographs that we are seeing are the result of just one treatment. Then, we can expect that in three treatments it will completely disappear.
Dr. JRM: That is correct and interestingly (Ivonne), this treatment is permanent wherein the patient can get it done and continue with normal daily activities.
Ivonne: And there is no surgery.
Dr. JRM: There is no surgery and the patient may continue a completely normal life.
Ivonne: Well, doctor, I am completely changing the subject. I am told that you are working with Lucecita Benítez. Tell me about this. Is this another phase?
Dr. JRM: Well that’s my project this year. Lucecita is Lucecita is a historic concert in Puerto Rico that no one should miss, on November 28, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. As a music lover I came here to obviously invite you, because I know how much you love her music …
Ivonne: Especially Lucecita.
Dr. JRM: … and to invite all of Puerto Rico, because we need to support this legend, who has given us so much.
Ivonne: She has brought fame to this country. Well, thank you very much for being with us today in this new phase.
