Dosis de salud: elimina la grasa sin cirugía

Ivonne: Bueno, me acompaña el Cirujano Oculplástico José Raúl Montes para hablarnos de un tratamiento que elimina la grasa no deseada, lo más importante es que es sin cirugía. Bienvenido doctor. Esto fue mágico. Cuénteme.
Dr. JRM: Muchas gracias, Ivonne. Muchas gracias. Estamos hablando hoy de Kybella®, que es un producto seguro, aprobado por la FDA, que se presentó precisamente aquí en Telenoticias en primicia hace aproximadamente dos o tres años, cuando lo introducimos a Puerto Rico. Aquí ustedes están viendo un tratamiento que se hizo aquí mismo en el estudio en una pasada intervención. Como ustedes ven, el Kybella® es un medicamento que se inyecta en la oficina del médico (pequeñas inyecciones), no dolorosas, sobre todo para la indicación por la FDA, en la grasa submental o lo que conocemos mejor como la papada. Vemos aquí que estamos haciendo este tratamiento en esta persona (y ustedes van a ver en breve las fotos dónde pueden ver el resultado de esto después de una o dos sesiones de este medicamento), que se hace en la oficina del médico y no requiere ninguna recuperación, excepto un poco de hinchazón inmediatamente después del tratamiento.
Ivonne: Entonces, la única contraindicación es la hinchazón que tiene posteriormente al tratamiento.
Dr. JRM: No es una contraindicación. Es básicamente que el paciente se tiene que preparar por los siguientes dos días después del medicamento (de la inyección) para estar hinchado.
Ivonne: ¿Cuándo va ver esos resultados?
Dr. JRM: Estos resultados los va a ver al cabo de un mes y medio o dos meses después de la primera sesión. Si el paciente le queda alguna grasa submental, alguna papada, se puede seguir inyectando. Lo interesante de este tratamiento es que hemos descubierto (Ivonne) nuevos usos para esto.
Ivonne: ¡Ah, sí!
Dr. JRM: Claro, si disuelve la grasa en la papada, pues también podemos extender estos usos a otras partes del cuerpo y de la cara. Nosotros tuvimos la suerte de hacer los estudios en nuestra oficina para el uso del Kybella® y en lo que se conoce como jowls, que son estas prominencias grasa (lo que se llaman los buchitos) alrededor de la boca o en la mandibular que molesta tanto a la gente.
Ivonne: Lo tenemos en pantalla. ¿Cuál ha sido el resultado?
Dr. JRM: El resultado ha sido bien bueno y la ventaja hacienda esta inyección en esa área es que requiere menos tratamiento, hay menos hinchazón, así es que el paciente ve los resultados mucho más rápido.
Ivonne: Bueno y de hecho usted se va de viaje para un bootcamp fuera de Puerto Rico y Telenoticias va a acompañarlo.
Dr. JRM: Eso es así. Tenemos el Cosmetic Bootcamp que se celebra todos los años en Aspen y este año tengo varias presentaciones bien interesantes. El ultimo día está básicamente dedicado a estas intervenciones que he tenido el honor de presentar aquí a través de Telemundo. Así que Telemundo va a estar en vídeo allí (tú vas a estar también en video) y voy a hablar sobre como nosotros los médicos podemos proyectar información de valor (que es importante) con credibilidad y mantener la seriedad que requiere nuestra profesión.
Ivonne: Antes de irte, me dicen que tenemos fotografías también del tratamiento en otras áreas del cuerpo.
Dr. JRM: Sí. Esta es la sorpresa, porque la gente se queja.
Ivonne: ¡Wow!
Dr. JRM: Sabes que hay unas áreas del cuerpo dónde la gente prefiere (pues) tenerla, pero hay otras que la gente no quiere tener eso, lo que llamamos los love handles.
Ivonne: Que son los hate handles.
Dr. JRM: Los hate handles, esos chichitos que están en la espalda o algunas mujeres se quejan de esa prominencia grasa, ese chichito que está debajo de brassiere o del traje baño, en la parte posterior de la espalda y aquí se puede inyectar Kybella® también para corregir eso y reducirlo dramáticamente, sin tener recuperación ninguna y es un procedimiento muy seguro y probado. Nosotros tenemos una publicación ahora que está en los journal científicos dónde hemos descrito el uso de Kybella® en otras áreas distintas.

Health Dose: Eliminate Fat Without Surgery

Ivonne: Here with us today is Oculoplastic Surgeon José Raúl Montes to discuss a treatment that eliminates unwanted fat, and most importantly, without surgery. Welcome doctor. This was magical. Disclose.
Dr. JRM: Thank you very much, Ivonne. Thank you. Today we are discussing Kybella®, which is an FDA-approved safe product that was in fact introduced here in Telenoticias about two or three years ago, when we pioneered it to Puerto Rico. You are observing a treatment that was done right here in the studio previously. As you can see, Kybella® is a medicine injected in the doctor’s office (small injections), painless, especially for the indication by the FDA, in submental fat, best known as double chin. We can see how the treatment is done on this person (momentarily, you will see photos where the result is visible after one or two sessions with this medication), which is done at the doctor’s office and without any downtime, except a little swelling immediately after treatment.
Ivonne: Then, the only contraindication is the swelling after the treatment.
Dr. JRM: It is not a contraindication. Basically, the patient has to be ready to be swollen for the next two days after the medication (injection).
Ivonne: When can you see those results?
Dr. JRM: These results can be visible one month a half or two months after the first session. If the patient has some submental fat, some double chin, you can continue injecting. Interestingly, we have discovered (Ivonne) new uses for this treatment.
Ivonne: Oh, yes!
Dr. JRM: Of course, if you dissolve the jowl’s fat, then we can also extend these uses to other parts of the body and face. We were fortunate to be able to do the studies in our office for the use of Kybella® and in what are known as jowls, which are these fat prominences around the mouth or jaw that make people uncomfortable.
Ivonne: We have it on screen. What was the result?
Dr. JRM: The result has been very good and the advantage of doing this injection in that area is that it requires less treatment, there is less swelling, so the patient sees the results much faster.
Ivonne: As a matter of fact, you are traveling outside of Puerto Rico for bootcamp and Telenoticias will be joining you.
Dr. JRM: That is correct. Cosmetic Bootcamp is held every year in Aspen, and this year I have a few very interesting presentations. The last day is basically dedicated to these interventions that I have had the honor of presenting here through Telemundo. Thus Telemundo is going to be there, via video (you will also be on video) and I will address how us doctors can project valuable credible information (which is important), while maintaining the seriousness that our profession requires.
Ivonne: Before you leave, they tell me that we also have photographs of the treatment in other areas of the body.
Dr. JRM: Yes. This is the surprise, because people complain about those areas.
Ivonne: Wow!
Dr. JRM: There are some areas of the body that people do not mind at all, but there are others that people prefer not to have, such as what we call love handles.
Ivonne: What are they, the hate handles?
Dr. JRM: Exactly, the hate handles, those areas in the lower back or for some women that fat prominence under the brassiere or swimsuit. You can inject Kybella® to correct that and reduce it dramatically without any downtime, and it is a proven very safe procedure. We now have a publication in scientific journals where we have described the use of Kybella® in other areas.
